What We Do for a Better World

Reducing Disposable Products

Disposable hygiene products are among the top 10 items frequently found in the oceans. Most of these are made of plastic and are not biodegradable, causing the death of seabirds, fish, and other animals that mistake this waste for food.

A person with average urinary incontinence uses about 730 disposable sanitary pads per year. These could be replaced by just 12 pairs of Taip underwear!

Ethical and Sustainable Production

• Local: All our underwear is designed and produced in Portugal, using materials manufactured in Europe. This avoids unnecessary transportation between continents and ensures fair working conditions and wages. Portugal has a long textile heritage and is a leader in sustainable practices.

• Materials: At Taip, we have always sought natural materials to be in permanent contact with the skin. After extensive research, we realized that cotton is not the best choice due to its high water consumption during the growing phases. We would need about 300 liters of water just to produce underwear. So, we opted for bamboo, which grows rapidly (reaching its full size in just one season) and can be cultivated on degraded land. Additionally, bamboo absorbs CO2 from the soil and releases it into the air. Fabric made from bamboo naturally possesses antibacterial properties, which are crucial for the well-being of our customers.

Circular Economy

At the end of our products' life cycle, we encourage customers to return their used underwear. We will dismantle them, separate the natural components from the synthetic ones, and send them to the local waste management company, Lipor.
